Transcript for Stopping While Descending

Stopping While Descending

This is a fairly straightforward technique.

A person is riding an ATV downhill sitting down while leaning back.

As you descend, shift your weight back. On steep slopes, straighten your knees and elbows, but don’t lock them.

The ATV rider shifts his or her weight forward while continuing to descend.

Bend forward so that your rear is over the back of the seat.

Shift into low gear, and apply the brakes to slow your descent.

The trick is to shift your weight smoothly, from leaning forward as you ascend to shifting your weight to the rear as you descend.
