Meeting OHV Equipment Requirements

When operated on a designated highway, the OHV operator must wear a helmet and the OHV must be equipped with the following:

  • Headlight
  • Taillight
  • Brake Light
  • Muffler

When riding in sand dune areas, a brightly colored “whip flag” must be attached to the OHV. Be sure to check local regulations for specific mounting instructions and height requirements for the flag.

Whip flags can help prevent accidents when riding on sand dunes. The flag can remain visible to others even if your OHV is hidden from view.
