Course Outline

Maine law requires the following restrictions for transporting alcohol.

  • Open containers of alcohol may not be transported on an ATV or snowmobile or consumed while riding. The only exception is for transporting alcohol that is in its original container and the seal is unbroken.
  • Partially filled containers must be carried in the storage compartment of the vehicle, and the container must be securely capped.
  • If the vehicle does not have a storage compartment, the container must be stored where it is least accessible to the operator.
  • Transporting or consuming alcohol under the age of 21 is illegal in Maine.
