Here are some other facts about registering your vehicle.

  • ATV and snowmobile registrations are valid from July 1 through June 30.
  • ATV registrations submitted on or before April 30 will expire on June 30 of the current year.
  • ATV registrations submitted on or after May 1 will expire on June 30 of the following year.
  • Snowmobile registrations submitted on or before May 31 will expire on June 30 of the current year.
  • Snowmobile registrations submitted on or after June 1 will expire on June 30 of the following year.
  • Registration is valid from May 1 through April 30.
  • ATVs and snowmobiles do not have to be titled.
  • You must register a motorcycle as an ATV before you may operate it legally for off-highway recreational purposes.
  • If you lose your registration certificate, you must apply to MDIFW or your registering agent for a duplicate.1
  • If you sell or transfer ownership of your ATV or snowmobile, the registration number expires immediately. The new owner must register the vehicle before operating it anywhere other than on the owner’s property.
