This handbook is designed to introduce you to Indiana laws governing ATVs and snowmobiles and
to provide basic information about the safe operation
of these vehicles. This handbook is not intended as
a substitute for the owner’s manual that came
with your vehicle.
ATVs and snowmobiles have been increasing
in popularity over the past decade. As trails and recreation
areas become more crowded, it’s more important
than ever for people to operate these vehicles safely
and responsibly.
This handbook is divided into four sections: It's
the Law, ATV Basics, Snowmobile Basics, and Off-Road Basics
for all off-road vehicles. There is also state-specific information
including trails maps, trail signs, and Indiana Department
of Natural Resources contact information.
