Course Outline

  • A person with a disability has the same access privileges as the general public to ORV trails, forest road, and scramble areas. Maps for legal operating areas can be located on the DNR website at www.michigan.gov/dnr/orv-riding.
  • ORVs can legally be used for cross-country travel to retrieve a deer if operating directly to the animal at a speed no greater than 5 miles per hour.
  • A person who due to injury, disease, amputation, or paralysis is permanently disabled and unable to walk in a hunting situation may apply for a permit to hunt from a standing vehicle. This permit allows a person to hunt and shoot from a parked motor vehicle or ORV.
  • To indicate the presence of a hunter who has a Permit to Hunt From a Standing Vehicle, an orange flag may be attached to the ORV. There is no size requirement for this flag.
