The amount of clearance between the ground and the bottom of your UTV/4x4 is different for each vehicle.

Before driving off-road, check the clearance for these parts of your UTV/4x4:

  • Axles  
  • Front and rear differentials
  • Fuel tank
  • Transfer case
  • Suspension components

Know the approach angle and the departure angle for your vehicle. Even though the front of your UTV/4x4 clears an obstacle, the middle or rear of the vehicle may not clear.

Know the breakover angle for your vehicle to avoid having the middle of your vehicle stuck on an obstacle while both the front and rear wheels are off the ground. See the illustration below.
