Course Outline

If your ORV must be transported on a trailer:

  • Confirm that the trailer meets any state safety requirements. Its brake lights must be working properly, and it must be hitched correctly (including safety chains) to the vehicle pulling the trailer.
  • Tie the ORV’s frame tightly to the trailer. Tie-down straps are suggested. Rope or rubber straps may stretch during transit, or may fray if they rub against sharp edges.
Crisscrossed chains under the trailer’s coupler

Crisscross the safety chains under the trailer’s coupler when attaching them to the towing vehicle.
