Alcohol and Drugs
The effect of alcohol is increased by the natural stressors placed on your body while riding your ATV.
Alcohol depresses the central nervous system, slows physical reaction time, and affects judgment. Most people become impaired after only one drink.
Alcohol decreases your attention span and makes it difficult to perform multiple tasks. For example, it will be more difficult for you to keep track of other ATVs operating in your area. This could become critical if you are placed in an emergency situation and must make a sudden decision.
Areas of Impairment Due to Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC)
Iowa law prohibits riding an ATV while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or narcotics.
