How To Volunteer

The Arizona OHV Ambassador program is a newly developed volunteer program that provides a way to promote responsible off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation on public, state, and private lands. Through this program, private citizens work with a variety of federal, state, and local land managers and public safety officials in Arizona.

There are many ways that you can take an active part in OHV-related projects and outdoor community service opportunities.

• OHV Ambassadors is a program for volunteers to model correct usage as well as to contact other users and spread the word about safe, ethical, and responsible OHV use in Arizona. Groups are being formed around Arizona, and anyone is welcome to apply.
• Volunteer to help maintain or build new trails systems to keep areas open and accessible to all. Check with user-group websites, any of the state agency websites, or the Arizona OHV Ambassadors for more information.
• The Game and Fish Department’s Volunteer Program is designed to further the Department’s Mission while providing an opportunity for volunteers to participate firsthand in managing Arizona’s wildlife resources.

To volunteer with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, call 602-942-3000 and ask for the volunteer coordinator or e-mail volunteer@azgfd.gov.

Opportunities include:

• Becoming a certified volunteer instructor in the Department’s OHV, boating safety, hunter safety, sport fishing, or shooting sports education programs
• Participating in wildlife care, facility maintenance, and administrative work at the Department’s wildlife center in Phoenix
• Helping with habitat restoration and clean-up projects, including the Adopt-A-Ranch Program
• Conducting firearms safety education and grounds maintenance work at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix
• Constructing water developments for wildlife
• Participating in a limited number of seasonal field projects and surveys
